South Stradbroke Island

January 1, 2016 by David

This island is smaller than its northern counterpart, and is quite proximal to the mainland. This makes it easily accessible, and there’s absolutely every reason for you to visit the islands. Some of the main attractions include the diverse scenery, the different species of flora and fauna as well as the many fun activities that one can indulge in.

One of the most endearing attractions on the island is the majestic sand dunes that dot the island’s landscapes. These giant sand dunes make for sheer unspoilt natural beauty. For adventure seekers, nothing beats sandboarding, a fun activity for all age groups. This is also a perfect way to mingle and meet with other like-minded travellers.

Best of all, perhaps, is the island’s strategic location that makes a myriad of water activities possible. Adrenaline junkies can either go surfing or take on wind surfing on a clear sunny day for fun adventures. If you are all about exploration and discovery, then snorkeling around the island is perfect for you. This fun activity allows you to explore the hidden treasures of the water, while learning more about the island’s ecosystem. There are a number of firms that offer snorkeling service gears for a fee.

Avid fishermen also enjoy fishing out in the open waters, arguably the perfect way to get food is you intend to camp on the island during your stay. Other fun water activities include sea kayaking, canoeing and jetskiing. If you are lucky, you may catch glimpses of the majestic humpback whales as they migrate to their breeding zones, a period which lasts between June and October.

There is no shortage of tourist activities to engage in, so plan to visit this iconic tourist destination when in Brisbane. If you are looking for a special addition to your holiday, look out for the rare Golden Wallaby. This animal is found exclusively on this island, it certainly is a special treat for visitors who spot it.

Watching sunrise and sunset has got to be a golden opportunity for visitors who grace their vacation with a trip to one of Australia’s most scenic islands. This is a simple yet profoundly awe-inspiring activity, with spectacular images to show for it. Do not pass the opportunity to sample some of the restaurants on the island to get a glimpse of the local cuisine and fresh sea food.

Note, however, that to maintain the island in this perfect condition, dogs and generators are not permitted in the conservation park as stipulated by the City of Gold Coast. This prohibition means that you have to plan for your canines prior to your trip. The memorable moments, however, make up for this golden tour. Use the details in the information box below to ensure your trip proceeds through seamlessly.
