Where to drink in Brisbane

March 5, 2016 by David

Brisbane is the perfect entertainment destination in Australia, so there is no shortage of places in case you are wondering where to drink in Brisbane.

The diversity of joints in the city is something that endears many locals and visitors to the bars in Brisbane. While the design, décor and overall ambiance of the joints will vary from one place to another, at the core of your drinking experience is the need to get a well-planned drinks list and the right background. Great food is a bonus too!

The perfect place to start this adventure is At Sixes and Sevens, a pleasant joint located on James Street, and which has quickly gained popularity for been a getaway for lovers of beer and street food. The vintage décor creates an amazing ambiance, and effortlessly blends the interior with the exterior setting from where you can watch the street come alive at night.

The Bar of Social Conscience, popularly referred to as BOSC is yet another great place to have a drink or two. The beauty about this bar is that it transcends beyond just a name and embraces donating to charity as part and parcel of its operations. This is a great incentive, and gives you some peace of mind as you enjoy your gin cocktail or sample the craft beer.

Other noteworthy bars in Brisbane include Cobbler which is best known as a whisky lover’s paradise, Cru Bar where glam and glitzy comes alive against the background of your favourite drinks as well as The French Martini which is perfect for wine lovers and connoisseurs alike.

One of Brisbane’s most lively locations to have a drink is Fortitude Valley. The first of the city’s locations to be set apart as an entertainment precinct, the Valley’s Streets come to life with the verve of bar-goers and the pulsating sounds of live bands. There are countless pubs and clubs in the Valley for you to choose from.

Rooftop bars are all the rage these days, so make good use of great weather all year round in Brisbane and get to enjoy your drink at the top. Limes Rooftop and Up on Constance are the places to be if you are looking for the rooftop experience along with stunning views of the lit city by night.

For quite a number of visitors, the choice of drinks is best accompanied by live music. The good news is that there are many bars that have live music over the weekend. Two of the most popular choices in this category include The Tivoli and The Zoo.

Dance clubs are also a popular choice for those who would like to really feel the music on their feet. Most of these clubs are packed with the young, and the typical crowd is made up of those in their 20s. Dance the night away with your favourite cocktail in hand at The Met, or enjoy your experience at The Press Club.

As with any other travel destination in Australia, drinks are not served to underage visitors, so keep this in mind if you are travelling as a group. Overall, drinking in Brisbane makes for a fun experience.
