Australia Zoo

January 22, 2016 by David

The zoo is home to the inspiring animal kingdom in the ‘land down under’. If anything, this is a sure way to enjoy your trip and come up close with the animals. Whether you are fascinated by the adorable koalas, or would like to walk with the tigers at Tiger Temple in the heart of Australia, you will love your experience at this zoo.

Take time to feed the elephants by hand, you will love the humbling experience with these majestic mammals. You will also get to learn so much more about these animals – how they feed, the kind of lives they lead, their gestation period and so much more.

While at it, do not pass the opportunity to enjoy the thrilling crocodile shows. It is impossible to visit the Australian Zoo and miss the opportunity to watch the shows. You will also get a new appreciation for Steve Irwin’s decision to stay in Australia. Steve’s excellent skills in handling the crocs earned him the name ‘crocodile handler’.

Steve’s death following a fatal attack while on duty did not hamper the zoo’s progress. Instead, Steve’s legacy lives on as his love for the zoo led him to expand the zoo and introduce new species to native ones. You can always honor Steve’s memories by getting involved in any of the many activities at the zoo.

Take a hands-on approach when you head over to the state-of-the-art facilities and watch the feeding presentations live! At this facility, you could also watch as the handlers take on the different animal species. If you are looking for adventure at the zoo, why not make your way to the Crocoseum – the crocodile museum?

The Crocoseum is home to a number of gigantic crocs. You will marvel at how the keepers are able to feed the crocs, and play with them – certainly a nerve-wracking experience for the faint-hearted, but nothing that you cannot handle.

Look out for Australia’s indigenous animal species when you visit the kangaroo enclosure. Here, you can play with and feed the kangaroos alongside other marsupials such as the popular Tasmanian devil and the wombats. Other enclosures on location are home to snakes, dragons and deadly predatory birds which will shock you with their swift way of life.

The shop on location at the zoo gives you the opportunity to get merchandise and souvenirs that will be constant reminders of your memorable stay in Brisbane. Ranging from conservation tees to surfwear to Australian Zoo clothing and crocodile DVDs, you re literally spoiled for choice.
