D’Aguilar National Park

January 27, 2016 by David

The national park is made up of different landscapes that offer a sharp contrast within the different habitats that the animals call home. Add to this the biodiversity of the plants and you can be certain that this is going to be a wild adventure.

On arrival at the park, you may want to start your tour at the walkabout Creek Visitor Centre. Here, you will get all the information you need about the park, its highlights, its attractions as well as what to look out for. It is also at this centre that you will have information clarified by the relevant authorities ahead of your tour.

In case you plan to go hiking, long distance cycling or bushwalking, it is advisable to get maps rom the center. This goes a long way as it gives you accurate information on your specific location using the coordinates, an important aspect of the park tour should the need arise. While at the center, you can also enjoy a virtual tour of the park, checking out the different points of attraction and identifying places that are a must-visit.

At D’Aguilar National Park, you will discover the thrill of climbing the lone gorges, or walking on the carpet-like foliage that covers the rainforest before winding up at the charming expanse that is the woodland consisting of eucalyptus trees. Look out for the vantage points that give you exclusive views of Moreton Bay from where you can take photographs of your most memorable moments.

Once you have ascended the mountain tops at the park, you will be welcomed by the rich and lush landscape that is home to Australia’s wildlife. In addition, if you are keen, you will notice that the mountain region has lots of ferns and mosses, a factor that can be attributed to the cool climate. Do not miss the chance to visit the mountain streams, a place where tranquility is in unison with the peace and quiet away from the frenetic pace of Brisbane.

There’s rich birdlife at the park, so birdwatchers will enjoy touring the park, from the fruit doves to the multicolored cockatoos and the bowerbirds. Owls are also abundant in this park, and if you are lucky, you can catch the owls hunting for snakes and possums between the trees. Other wild animals that you can look out for include the gliders and bandicoots.

Other activities that you can indulge in while at the park include jogging on the marked trail and horse riding. Camping facilities are available too, so check at the Visitor Centre for more details. This is the perfect break away from the city, so make it great by touring the D’Aguilar National Park. Below are pertinent details you will need.
